Is FamilyShield compatible with my car?
FamilyShield is compatible in most cars made after 1996, as an OBD-II port is required (usually located in the driver side footwell. Check your car manual for exact location). Click here to find out where the OBD-II port is in your vehicle.
How is FamilyShield installed?FamilyShield is easily installed in about 30 seconds. The device plugs right into your OBD-II port.
Does FamilyShield drain my car battery while the engine is off?
FamilyShield devices enter a deep-sleep low power mode when no motion is detected. Power consumption while active is 70mA @12VDC, while in sleep mode it is <6mA @12VDC.
